Your information should have a clear purpose

This notice explains what personal information New Thought Academy collects, why it is needed, who may process it, how long it is kept and what choices you have. It applies to the website, assessment, embedded Calendly booking page, Paystack payment journey, email, WhatsApp and delivery of the paid offers.

1. Responsible party and privacy contact

Khwezi Feni presents the teaching through New Thought Academy and is your privacy contact. The registered company and responsible party for processing is SOL, enterprise number K2024554388.

  • Address: 60 Heather Garden Square, Forest Hill, Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, 6001, South Africa
  • Privacy contact and recipient for Information Officer matters: Khwezi Feni
  • Email: khwezi@newthoughtacademy.world
  • Telephone and WhatsApp: +27 62 654 0463

2. Where information comes from

Most information comes directly from you when you send an enquiry, complete the programme assessment, select a calendar time, pay through Paystack, join a WhatsApp space, attend a lesson or ask for support.

New Thought Academy may also receive limited information from the service provider you use—for example, a Calendly booking record or a Paystack transaction status. It does not buy unrelated marketing lists or collect private information about you from social media merely because you watched or commented on public content.

3. Information that may be collected

Do not submit ID numbers, bank login details, card numbers, CVV codes, passwords, one-time PINs, medical files or mental-health diagnoses through an enquiry, assessment or WhatsApp group. The assessment is not intended to collect a health history or other unnecessary special personal information.

  • name, email address, WhatsApp number and preferred contact method;
  • the enquiry or service you are interested in;
  • programme assessment answers, availability and fit information you choose to provide;
  • calendar selection, time zone, attendance and rescheduling information;
  • Paystack transaction reference, amount, status and payment email, but not full card details;
  • service messages, support questions and notes reasonably needed to deliver the purchased service;
  • guide delivery or access records and programme participation records;
  • marketing choice and opt-out records;
  • a testimonial, photograph or story only if you separately agree to its use; and
  • basic website, device, browser, IP address, cookie, security and log information that Shopify, Calendly or another enabled provider may collect.

4. Why information is used

New Thought Academy uses personal information only where there is a lawful basis, including where processing is needed to take steps you request before a contract, perform the contract, comply with law, protect a legitimate interest, or carry out a purpose to which you gave valid consent.

The practical purposes are to:

Information collected for an assessment, booking or purchase is not automatically permission for unrelated marketing.

  • answer enquiries and explain the relevant offer;
  • review programme applications and communicate the outcome;
  • verify Paystack payments and prevent duplicate or fraudulent fulfilment;
  • manage Calendly bookings, rescheduling and attendance;
  • deliver the Practical Guide, calls, programme lessons and support;
  • run the optional WhatsApp learning spaces safely;
  • keep accounting, tax, transaction, complaint and legal records;
  • protect the website, accounts and customers from misuse or security incidents; and
  • send promotional messages only where consent or another lawful basis exists, with a simple opt-out.

5. What is voluntary and what is needed

Providing personal information is generally voluntary. However, New Thought Academy cannot answer privately without contact details, match a payment without enough transaction information, book a call without scheduling information, or consider a programme application without the required assessment answers.

Optional fields should be marked as optional. Optional marketing consent and optional WhatsApp group participation must not be made conditions of receiving the core paid service.

6. Your programme assessment

The 10-question assessment asks about your current understanding, including religious or philosophical beliefs. These answers are sensitive personal information. We collect them only with your specific consent to consider your programme application and email you feedback. The form is for adults aged 18 or older. It is not a medical, psychological, credit or employment assessment.

Khwezi reviews your application and replies by email before any enrolment call or programme payment. Shopify and the Academy’s email provider process the submission. Your answers are not published or used to subscribe you to marketing. If you prefer not to share beliefs online, email Khwezi to discuss your options.

You may withdraw your consent or request access, correction or deletion by contacting Khwezi. Withdrawing consent may mean we cannot continue considering the application; it does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

7. Service providers and off-site processing

Information may be processed by providers that are reasonably necessary to run the service, including:

These providers have their own privacy notices and may process information in other countries. New Thought Academy must use providers only as reasonably necessary and take the steps required by POPIA for operators, security and cross-border transfers. A provider's separate terms do not remove New Thought Academy's duties as the responsible party for its own processing.

  • Shopify for storefront pages, order information, forms and digital delivery;
  • Calendly for the calendar embedded on the booking page;
  • Paystack or the payment provider shown at booking for payment processing;
  • WhatsApp and Meta for messages, video sessions, Channel and group functions;
  • email, calendar, file-hosting, security, accounting or professional-service providers used for delivery and lawful administration.

8. Embedded Calendly, links and cookies

The booking page will embed Calendly. When you load or use that calendar, Calendly may receive device, cookie and booking information under its own privacy notice. Paystack and WhatsApp are also separate services that receive information when you open or use them.

Shopify and embedded services may use cookies or similar technology for essential operation, security and scheduling. If non-essential analytics, advertising or tracking technology is enabled, the website should provide an appropriate choice before it is used. Blocking an essential cookie may prevent the embedded calendar or another requested feature from working.

9. WhatsApp visibility and recordings

Private WhatsApp messages are used for service communication, but no online messaging service can be guaranteed completely secure. The Channel may show information according to WhatsApp's settings.

Joining the programme question group is optional and requires a separate, informed choice because members may see your name, phone number, profile photograph and anything you post. Do not post private information that you do not want other members to see. New Thought Academy will not record a private video session without clear permission, and clients may not record or share a session without Khwezi's permission.

10. Marketing choices

Messages needed to answer an enquiry, review an application, confirm a payment, manage a booking or deliver a purchased service are service messages, not marketing consent.

Any consent for future promotional email or WhatsApp messages must be separate, optional and unticked. You can opt out at any time, free of charge and without losing a service already purchased. Every marketing message should identify New Thought Academy and provide a simple way to stop. A suppression record may be kept so that an opt-out is respected.

11. Retention

New Thought Academy keeps personal information only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose, a legal duty or a genuine dispute.

When information is no longer needed, it should be securely deleted, destroyed or de-identified.

  • Unsuccessful programme applications: 90 days after the selection decision, then deleted or de-identified unless the applicant asks to be considered for a later intake.
  • Client, payment and service records: 5 years after the last transaction or end of service, unless a law, tax requirement, complaint or dispute requires longer retention.
  • Marketing opt-out records: as long as reasonably needed to make sure the opt-out is respected.
  • General enquiries that do not become purchases: until the enquiry and any related follow-up are resolved, unless a legal duty or dispute requires longer retention.
  • Platform security and technical logs: for the period reasonably set by the relevant provider and New Thought Academy's configured account, subject to legal and security needs.

12. Security and privacy incidents

New Thought Academy uses reasonable safeguards appropriate to a small online education service. These include limiting access, using strong account security and multi-factor authentication where available, keeping payment-card processing with Paystack, and using reputable service providers. No online system can be promised to be completely secure.

Report a suspected privacy incident promptly to khwezi@newthoughtacademy.world or +27 62 654 0463. If a security compromise creates a duty to notify the Information Regulator or affected people, New Thought Academy will follow POPIA's notification requirements.

13. Your choices and rights

Subject to POPIA and other applicable law, you may:

Send a request to Khwezi Feni at khwezi@newthoughtacademy.world or +27 62 654 0463. New Thought Academy may ask for enough information to verify your identity safely. A request may be refused or limited only where the law permits, and the reason should be explained.

  • ask whether New Thought Academy holds personal information about you;
  • request access to that information;
  • ask for inaccurate or incomplete information to be corrected;
  • request deletion or destruction where the law allows it;
  • object to processing based on certain lawful grounds;
  • withdraw consent where processing depends on consent;
  • opt out of direct marketing at any time; and
  • complain to the Information Regulator.

14. Complaints to the Information Regulator

You may contact South Africa's Information Regulator if you believe your personal information has been handled unlawfully:

Please first contact New Thought Academy where practical so the issue can be understood and addressed, but this does not remove your right to approach the Regulator.

  • Website and eServices: https://inforegulator.org.za/
  • POPIA complaints: POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za
  • General enquiries: enquiries@inforegulator.org.za

15. Adults, changes and the published version

The offers and programme assessment are intended for adults aged 18 or older. New Thought Academy does not knowingly invite programme applications from children.

This notice may be updated when the service, form, technology or provider changes. The effective date identifies the published version. A material change should be clearly communicated where POPIA or fairness requires it.
